Self-care Sunday

April is National Stress Awareness Month

How do you handle stress? Are you able to manage it well?

I've always been someone who gets stressed often and easily because I tend to overextend myself to be there for everyone and to do ALL the things...which I know is impossible. But hey! I'm an overachiever. LOL

I'm a work in progress and slowly have put MYSELF FIRST. How are you supposed to help others if you don't help yourself first.

According to the CDC website (2020), they listed the following as healthy ways of coping with stress:

  • Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, exercise, get plenty of sleep, and give yourself a break if you feel stressed out.

  • Talk to others. Share your problems and how you are feeling and coping with a parent, friend, counselor, doctor, or pastor.

  • Avoid drugs and alcohol. These may seem to help, but they can create additional problems and increase the stress you are already feeling.

  • Take a break. If news events are causing your stress, take a break from listening or watching the news.

  • Recognize when you need more help. If problems continue or you are thinking about suicide, talk to a psychologist, social worker, or professional counselor.
